Dear Cottonwood Family,
As we wrap up our first term of the school year and begin our second, I’m continually amazed at how quickly the time flies! A few weeks ago your child brought home their report cards, which provide a snapshot of the progress they’re making. Our Granite School District Proficiency-Based Learning model is designed to communicate exactly where students are in their learning journey. Each grade reflects what students know and can do at this moment in time. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher—they’re here to help!
This time of year is always so special. Seeing the excitement in our students’ eyes as we celebrate the season is truly wonderful. Our Halloween parade yesterday was a big success! We are so grateful for the support from our office staff, teachers, PTA, and all the parents who volunteered to make it such a fun day. Thank you for your support.
With winter approaching, and the days getting colder, please remember to dress students warmly with hats, mittens or gloves, coats, snow pants, and sturdy footwear for recess. On especially stormy days, or when the “Real Feel” temperature drops to 20°F or below, students are welcome to come inside in the early morning beginning at 8:15. Our front doors as well as grade level doors will be open, with an adult supervising the doors. Please trust us, your child does know how to get to their classroom, and we have adults throughout the halls ensuring all students make it safely to their rooms. As a reminder, parents and other adults are not allowed to enter the building unless they go through the main office and obtain a visitor badge.
At Cottonwood Elementary, we have so much to be grateful for. From our dedicated staff—including our custodian, paraprofessionals, office staff, and teachers—to our supportive and generous parents, you make this school a wonderful place to be.
And, of course, we are grateful for our amazing students, who bring their curiosity and enthusiasm to school every day. They are the reason we are here, and they inspire us constantly.
Thank you for the commitment you show to your children and to our school. It truly makes my role as principal a joy. I wish you all a wonderful November and a warm Thanksgiving season!
Sincerely,
Principal Cooper
