Dear Cottonwood Family,
My favorite season is Spring! I love the smell of a fresh rain, the new flowers in bloom, the chirp of birds in the morning, and just hanging out outside in my backyard. My fingers are crossed for no more snow!
I sure hope you all have a lot of fun over Spring Break. Spring Break is from Monday, April 7 – Friday, April 11th.
Thank you for helping us keep our environment the absolute best it can be and not distract from learning. Report cards were sent home a few weeks ago. If you haven’t seen it yet, please check backpacks. You can also pull up your child’s grades through your Granite Parent Focus account. It’s hard to believe that we have begun the last grading period of the school year. The beginning of a new quarter is the perfect time to set goals to end the year strong. This is a very busy time of the year, and it will go by quickly.
March Madness was a lot of fun! Thank you for diligently working to get your children to school on time. Our teachers loved being able to start the day right away and not miss a beat! Now that you’re in the habit, let’s keep it up the rest of the year. We will continue celebrating classes each month with fresh, warm cookies from Chip to the class that had the best overall attendance for the month. Tardies and checkouts affect class percentages. Remember, you’ve got to be in it to win it! These last two months are so important, and we have so many fun things planned!
RISE testing for grades 3-5 begins as soon as students return from the break. It is very important that your child(ren) are here at school and participate in this testing. Past experience has shown that students who take the assessments with their class perform at a higher level than those who take a makeup test at a different time. If you need to schedule a medical appointment for your child within the next eight weeks, please reach out to your child’s teacher to find out what days grade levels are testing. Here are some tips to help your students during testing:
- Get a good night’s rest
- Have a positive attitude
- Eat a healthy breakfast
- Be on time to school
I am confident that our students will do well. They have worked extremely hard and have grown so much! They are scholars!
Unfortunately, our efforts to curb dog poop on our grounds have not been successful. With the warmer weather, the dog owners are back, and we have seen an increase in dog doo on our grounds. We are very tired, and I’m sure you are as well, of having our students step in or get dog feces on them here at school. If you see anyone with an off-leash dog at any time, PLEASE call Unified Police at 801-840-4000 and report it. You can also call Granite School District Police to report at 801-481-7122. It is the law for dogs to be on a leash at all times on our property!
As always, thank you for being a partner in education! I love your students!!
Love,
Mrs. Cooper
