February 3 - 7 is Red Ribbon Week. Each day we will have a different activity. Monday - students will receive a bracelet and sign pledges, Tuesday - Crazy sock day (Let's sock it to drugs), Wednesday - wear boots to school (Let's give drugs the boot), Thursday - wear team jerseys (Team up against drugs), Friday - wear red and wear bracelet. Second quarter non-attendance day

Cottonwood students will perform Christmas songs for their parents December 19, 9:00 AM. This is also an early release day which will be the start of our Winter Break. Charity Event
It is truly the season of giving. Each classroom at Cottonwood Elementary has voted on a different charity or philanthropy and have been collecting whatever that organization needs most. We are excited to be able to support 18 different groups. We are collecting these donations this week in preparation for an assembly on Friday, December 13, which we will present the donations to a representative from the organization. Thanksgiving Break
Just a reminder of our schedule for the week of November 25 - 29. We have picture retakes scheduled for Tuesday, November 26, 10:15 - 11:30 AM. November 26 is also a short day. School will be dismised at 1:05 PM, with morning kindergarten dismissing at 10:35 AM. We will be out of school for the Thanksgiving holiday from November 27 - 29. Classes will reconvene December 2. Halloween
Please join us Thursday morning for our Halloween parade. Students will wind their way through the hallways, picking up each classroom, eventually finding our way to the lunchroom and the multipurpose room. Parents are encouraged to go directly to those rooms so we can keep the hallway free and clear for our parade. The parade will start at 9:00 AM sharp. Gifted Testing
Gifted Testing is upon us. December 9th and 10th will be the testing window for grades 2nd through 6th. Testing is only appropriate for approximately the top 10-15% of a grade level. If your child is in the gifted cluster, they do not need to be tested every year. PTA fundraiser week
October 7 - 11 will be the PTA Hallow Scream fundraiser week. Students may start collecting their spookey pledges for the Read-a-Thon on October 4. Booooo-ks and Bagels will be held Wednesday, October 9, at 7:45 AM. The week will culminate with the Hocus Pocus evening on Friday, October 11, 5:00-8:00.
