GEAR UP

What is USU STARS GEAR UP – Class of 2024?

Welcome to USU GEAR UP at Hunter High School

Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is a federally funded program designed to support students as they prepare for and succeed in college. The USU GEAR UP program helps students and families to see that it is possible to attend a school after high school, whether that is a 4-year college or a 2-year technical school. USU STARS! GEAR UP works in partnership and collaboration with schools, teachers, staff, and families. Services provided by USU GEAR UP include the following:

  • Academic tutoring
  • College campus visits
  • Career exploration
  • Summer camps and activities
  • Financial aid planning/advising
  • Workshops and programs for families

Who are USU GEAR UP students?

The USU GEAR UP program supports the graduating class of 2024. Students at Hunter High are currently in 9th grade during the 2020/21 school year. These students started as 7th graders in 2018. As the students move through the grades, GEAR UP goes with them, through high school graduation, and into their first year of college.

What is USU STARS! GEAR UP?

The USU STARS! GEAR UP program is a partnership program between Utah State University and the Granite School District (GSD). USU GEAR UP at GSD encourages and supports students with programs to help make college a reality.
