Who was James E. Moss?

Jimmy Moss (PNG)

James “Jimmy” E. Moss was a great statesman and community leader. He was known as “The Father of Utah High School sports.” Jimmy was the first principal of Granite High, coached the first state championship grid  team from Granite in 1908, was co-organizer of the Utah High School Activities Association, and was the first principal of Murray High. He graduated from the University of  Deseret in 1893.

School Background

Moss Elementary was originally designed as an open pod school and was completely remodeled in 2002 to provide enclosed classrooms. Most of the students who attend Moss live within walking distance to the school. There are two bus routes.

Enrollment

Moss Elementary serves approximately 500 students in grades K-5. We currently have a three and four-year-old preschool program and four all-day kindergartens.

Computers and Technology

All teachers have a full set of student Chromebooks for student use. This allows your school to have one-to-one technology for all students K-5.

Student Promotion

Our students will attend Bonneville Junior High School and Cottonwood High School.
