Dear Oakridge Community,
I hope you are having an enjoyable and restful summer! I am looking forward to starting a new school year together, especially with the unusual ending we had last year. It will be wonderful to see you and your children once again!
I recognize that, due to Covid-19, you may have concerns about what school will look like this upcoming year. I share your concerns and want you to know that we are preparing and working hard now so we can provide your children with a safe and well-rounded education in the fall. We are planning for the multiple scenarios and issues we may face. We understand that the situation is ever-changing, so we are being as flexible and proactive as possible. I also recognize that some families have a desire to keep their children at home when school starts. While we would love to have your children physically attend Oakridge, know that we will continue to provide a quality education to all our students whether they attend face-to-face or through distance learning. No matter where learning occurs, your child’s teacher and class will remain consistent; direct instruction, assignments, assistance, assessments and feedback will be uninterrupted regardless of the modality your family chooses. We are here for you!
School Health and Safety– We are working with Granite School District and the state to follow best practices to create health and safety plans for the various needs, schedules, and areas of our school. We will also be planning with our PTA, Community Council, and Leadership Team to find ways to support Oakridge specifically. Detailed information and plans will be sent out closer to the beginning of the school year.
Registration – We plan on holding our in-person registration on Thursday, August 6. This year, in order to increase safety, we are offering an online registration option. If you are interested in taking advantage of this option, you first need to have an account on the Parent Portal. Distance Learning- We want to ensure that our students grow academically, so we will continue to provide a solid education via online learning. In August, our teachers will receive additional training and support on how to best teach our students. We will look at practices which improve both face-to-face and distance learning. We will also be offering you some training so you can better understand how to navigate our online systems. Together, we can do this!
While not everything will be the same as in the past, this is going to be an amazing year! We at Oakridge Elementary are excited to help your children learn and make progress while we keep them safe and healthy. THANK YOU for being a part of our Oakridge family!
