Dear Oakridge Parents,
After yesterday’s notification from Granite School District, many of you have been asking what in-person instruction will look like at Oakridge Elementary. Our Oakridge Reopening Plan is based off of Granite School District’s Reopening Framework. (https://cdn-59bd6cf5f911c923e82ee0ee.closte.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/School-Reopening-Requirements-Template.pdf) The staff and I will be finalizing our Oakridge Plan so it is available on our website by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29th. We will do our best to try and post it sooner. I will let you know when it is ready to view.
Following is some general information found on the Granite School District website that may help you start thinking about a decision that is best for your child(ren). (https://www.graniteschools.org/bulletin/steps-for-a-safe-school-year/)
- Distance learning will follow the same basic model as this past 4th quarter, but of a much higher quality based on feedback and our experiences. It is expected to keep pace with in-person instruction. The district has ramped up trainings and resources for teachers to assist them in providing distance learning. Student Wi-Fi access will be expanded as much as possible, and Chromebooks will be available for check out.
- In-person students will be isolated by classroom groups, face coverings will be required, interaction will be lessened, and social distancing and regular cleaning will be the norm. There will be no large gatherings, and the flow of movement will be controlled. Learning, however, will take place as it always has, with modifications to keep everyone safe.
Families have until Monday, August 3 to submit an Elementary Learning Option Form for every student that will be enrolled at Oakridge Elementary. Forms may be submitted by email to our principal, Christine Drummond, at cdrummond@graniteschools.org or dropped off at the main office Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. (The school will be closed on Friday, July 24.)
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to prepare for an exciting year together.
Best,
Christine Drummond
Principal
