Dear Oakridge Families,
Today has been an exciting day at Oakridge Elementary. This morning, there was a gas smell throughout our building. As per protocol, we temporarily evacuated the building while emergency officials investigated. After determining that the source of the smell was a residential gas leak south of the building, emergency personnel and I checked every room in the building to make sure we were cleared for a safe return. We appreciate the swift action of Unified Fire, Unified Police, and Granite Police.
Our students and staff did a wonderful job of following our safety procedures. All were cooperative and remained calm. Many students enjoyed interacting with the officers while others appreciated being able to spend time outdoors. Well done, Olympians!
On another note, the correspondent of our Student Spirit and Involvement Action Team asked me to share a reminder with you. Parents, this Friday is our school spirit day. On Friday students are encouraged to wear one color. It can be any color you want, like school colors, your favorite sport team color, or anything else. We look forward to seeing your Oakridge pride.
Thank you and take care,
Christine Drummond
