Dear Oakridge Families,
Our faculty has identified character traits we would like to focus on each month for the remainder of the school year. We will talk about the traits with our students, share examples, and staff members will be recognizing students who are demonstrating this trait in different areas in our school. Our character trait for the month of January was respect. Each teacher selected one respectful student to represent their class as the January student of the month. Congratulations to our awesome January students of the month! Our character trait we are focusing on for February is responsibility.
Next week we are holding our parent teacher conferences. The teachers are excited to meet with you and share the progress your students are making in class. They have recently attended classes on analyzing student data from the middle of year I-Ready Diagnostic Assessment. We can’t wait to celebrate this progress with you!
Our PTA is sponsoring a book fair during conferences next week on Monday and Tuesday after school and evening. Please stop by. Thank you to all of the volunteers who are helping with the book fair.
Our PTA is helping present Meet the Masters to our students during the months of February and March. We appreciate all of the parents who have signed up to help our students complete their art projects. The artist for the month of February is Mary Cassatt.
We are fortunate to welcome Melissa Chang to our school as an art teacher. All Oakridge classes will have art classes with Melissa. Melissa will focus on helping students focus on the art process and the learning that happens at each stage. Her goal is to tap into the individual creativity and personal experiences and to thoughtfully address where students are in terms of their artistic development. Welcome to Oakridge Melissa!
Please contact the office if you will have an incoming kindergarten student in the fall. We are collecting those names to help solidify our enrollment numbers for kindergarten. We are also still accepting open enrollment permits for students who live outside of the Oakridge boundaries. We would love to welcome more students to our school.
I look forward to seeing you all next week!
