April 04, 2023 – 05:54 AM
Schools: Elementary, Junior, Senior, Specialty
Dear Granite School District Parents and Families,
With the ongoing winter storm and potential challenges with the morning commute, we are delaying the start of the school day by two hours for Tuesday, April 4, 2023. This means that ALL school start times and bus pickup times will be delayed by two hours. For example, if your bus pick-up time is 7:25 a.m., it will now be 9:25 a.m.
With a delayed start, the following changes will occur:
- Elementary schools will be pushed back 2 hours and 5 minutes to avoid bussing conflicts.
- Junior High School start times will be pushed back 2 hours,
- High Schools will start at 9:30 a.m.
- All breakfast programs will be canceled.
- All a.m. pre-schools classes will be canceled.
- All a.m. kindergarten classes will be canceled.
- All p.m. preschool classes will NOT be canceled.
- All p.m. kindergarten and all-day kindergarten will NOT be canceled.
- All classes and activities normally held before the traditional school starting time will be canceled.
- All a.m. GTI classes will be canceled.
- All programs housed at the Roosevelt Campus will be canceled, (i.e., GAPP, Safe Schools Programs).
- All morning classes at the Jones Center will be canceled.
- Class times for Hartvigsen will be as follows: 9:35 a.m. – 2:20 p.m.
- Class times for POST will be as follows: 9:35 a.m. – 2:20 p.m.
As a reminder, you can check the status of your child’s school bus using the Here Comes the Bus app, available on The App Store and Google Play.
Please remember that we trust parents to make the ultimate call when it comes to their child’s safety. Not all streets are plowed at the same time, and snow totals may differ from region to region. Please allow yourselves extra time in the morning to navigate potential adverse weather conditions and remember to dress your students in warm clothing including boots, jackets, hats, and gloves. If you do not think it is safe to send or take your students to school during inclement weather, please keep them home. School officials will be lenient regarding tardiness and absences during winter weather.
Thank you for your ongoing efforts and support of our schools.
Sincerely,
Granite School District
