Parents are required to come into the school and show their ID in order to check their student out during the school day. If you are aware of an existing upcoming appointment or engagement, on the day of, you may send your student with a written permission slip to bring to the office prior to the start of school and we will allow the student a pass to leave and meet you outside at the requested time.
- Written permission slips must be signed by the parent and include a phone number where the parent can be reached. If we are unable to reach a parent for permission verification, no pass will be issued.
- If you have had a sudden emergency, or need your student in a rapid manner, parents may call the school and we will try to have your student ready in the office for you upon your arrival. You must still come inside and show ID in order to take your student.
- No check outs or passes will be administered or authorized over the phone.
- Students should show the pass to their teacher at the beginning of class so the teacher is aware the student will need to leave class early.
- Students who leave school without checking out (with or without a parent’s consent) will be marked as an unexcused absence for each period missed.
- Only legal guardians and those listed on the “Registration Card or Information Sheet” may check out or transport a student.
- Students who are ill and wish to check out of school should contact their parents using the attendance phone; they should not call or text their parents during the school day. Ill students must have a legal guardian or authorized release come inside with ID in order to check them out.
- The school does not have the authority to release a student to leave campus with another student (even with the permission of both parents.)
- Parents who wish to take their son or daughter to lunch should write a note requesting that. The student should bring the note to the Attendance Office before the beginning of school.
- Students are not permitted to leave the school grounds during school hours, during lunch or during assemblies for any reason unless they are on a school approved field trip or the student has been properly checked out.
- Please plan around assemblies. Student attendance is required during assemblies. If parents have an emergency and require the student, parents will need to sign in at the main office and locate the student within the assembly.
- Students are expected to stay in school unless they are required for an obligation. Wasatch is a closed campus and students should not be checked out during school hours.
