Morning Procedures

• Breakfast: West Kearns Elementary provides breakfast for students in the east cafeteria beginning at 8:30 a.m.  All students will be supervised during breakfast.  We discourage parents and students from arriving prior to 8:30 a.m.  Students should enter the building through the main east office doors.  All students must remain indoors until 8:45 a.m.
• Early morning recess: Beginning at 8:45 a.m., students should be near where their class lines up until the first bell rings.  Students should follow basic school rules that are posted at the end of each hallway facing the playground. School staff will monitor and supervise the playground each morning from 8:45 a.m. to 9:05 a.m.
• Morning bells: The first bell rings at 9:00 a.m.  This is the warning bell signaling students that it is time to line up at their recess doors.  The second bell (tardy bell) rings at 9:05 a.m., signaling the official start of the instructional school day.  All students should be with their classes when this bell rings.
