Hello Eastwood Family,
In case you have not heard, I am retiring at the end of this school year. It was a hard decision to leave as Eastwood is home and is filled with family. I am looking forward to new adventures in traveling, volunteering, and having more time to be a grandma. I am grateful to all of you for your support, your kindness and your trust. The new principal will be announced at Granite School District Board meeting on April 12, 2022.
I need your help on a couple of issues.
1- Pick up/drop off: The center parking area should be used during the school day only and NOT at pick up or drop off time. When parents park in the center, kiddos must cross over the traffic to get to the car. While can take 10-15 minutes to wait in the line, it is not worth putting a child in danger. Also, the center area is not to be used as a pull through area. The safety of our students in much more important than saving 5 minutes. If you want to get out of your car to pick up or drop off your child, you MUST park in the north lot and then follow the outside crosswalk all the way around. Please think through your actions – kids will do what they see you do.
2- Eastwood property is NOT a dog park; it is a school. Dogs are not allowed to be on the property at all between the hours of 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Outside of these times, all pets must be leashed and under physical restraint of the owner (Salt Lake County Ordinance 8.04.130). One of our employees was recently bitten by a dog who was off leash. I am sure you have heard stories from your students of encounters with “pet waste”. The same ordinance requires pet owners to immediately clean up after their pets. Please encourage, remind, demand that anyone you see on the property is following these ordinances.
Our district recently sent a Parent Satisfaction Survey. If you have not yet participated or want to participate, please follow this link –
