Dear Eastwood Families,
Our school year is off to a wonderful start! It was great to have our kindergarten students join us today. We are excited that everyone is here and ready to learn. Below are some upcoming events and opportunities:
Back to School Night
- We hope you can join us this Thursday, August 25th. We will begin at 5:00 pm in the gymnasium with staff introductions, reminders from our principal, and information from our PTA.
- Hear from your child’s teacher during one of three fifteen-minute sessions in the classroom. If you have specific concerns or items to discuss, we ask that you make an appointment to meet with him or her at a later time. Back to School Night is an opportunity to see the classroom and hear a general overview of what to expect this year.
- We want to thank our teachers for attending this optional event. We appreciate their time and dedication to Eastwood Elementary.
Community Carnival
- Mark your calendars for Thursday, September 8th. PTA is hosting a Community Carnival on Eastwood’s back field and playground area from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Activities will include inflatable slides and obstacle courses, a rock climbing wall, face painting, and more!
- Additional information will be coming soon.
Reflections
- The National PTA Reflections Contest – the annual Art Contest- is Now Open! This year’s theme is “Show Your Voice”.
- Deadline for submissions is Friday, October 7th.
- Parents and guardians, if your child(ren) are interested, please start brainstorming: “If you could say ONE thing to the world, how would you draw/sculpt/dance/write it?” OR “Have you ever had something important that you wanted to say that you didn’t? How did you feel and how would you draw/create/dance/write that feeling?”
- Questions? See the flier or contact Gaylynn Whitehead at gaylynnw@gmail.com.
PTA Items
- Last Chance Apparel Orders and Online Directory forms are due Friday, August 26th.
School Lunches
- With the expiration of all USDA Nationwide waivers, we can no longer offer free lunches to all students.
- Families can and are encouraged to apply for Free or Reduced meals.
Thank you for your support of Eastwood Elementary. It is a pleasure to work with you and your children. I truly believe I have the best job! This is going to be, and already is, a fantastic year.
Best,
Christine Drummond
