Digital Citizenship & Parent Resources
Children are growing up in a digital world and it is important that parents and teachers help them learn how to be good digital citizens. Common Sense Media is the leading source of entertainment and technology recommendations for families. Below we found some Common Sense Media resources that give support and ideas on how to help your children be resilient digital citizens:
Can watching TV really help my kids? Research shows that watching TV and movies with your kids has a range of positive effects. Watch this video for five reasons why co-viewing makes sense for parents. (Versión en español aquí)
Do Cell phones get in the way of family time at the dinner table? Watch this #devicefreedinner video as a family and discuss what you can do to avoid this situation.
Are you concerned about you or your child’s excessive use of technology? In this video some parents candidly discuss the challenge of finding balance between using technology and unplugging.
At school we talk about “digital footprints.” A digital footprint is all of the information that exists on the internet as a result of a person’s online activity. One way to make sure you have a positive digital footprint is to T.H.I.N.K. before you Post–here’s what that means:
T – is it TRUE?
H – Is it HELPFUL?
I – Is it INSPIRING?
N – Is it NECESSARY?
K – Is it KIND?
We hope these resources can be a good place to start as you support your children in building healthy habits for digital citizenship. For other resources, please visit the Granite School District Digital Citizenship Page.

Parent Survey
Dear Parents,
In connection with the on-site appraisal done this week (January 11th – 12th), Education Direction and I would appreciate your input by taking the following survey (see link below). You are being asked to complete this survey (anonymously) as part of a project to help all members of the Granger Elementary community (students, parents, and the adults who work at the school) understand how everyone feels about the school.
Again, the survey is completely confidential and will take 10 minutes or less to complete. We thank you for your time as we move forward in this most important appraisal process.

Title I Parent Meeting
Granger Elementary will hold its annual Title I Parent Meeting on November 16, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend this meeting. Participants will learn more about Granger Elementary and the programs available to help students achieve their “Cougar Personal Best”.
Cold Weather
Just a gentle reminder that cold weather is here. Please make sure that your child or children are dressed appropriately for the cold weather. Students line-up outside in the morning and go outside to recesses during the day and need to be dressed for the weather conditions. It is important for students to have an opportunity to exercise and play outside with friends each day. The only time students are not allowed to go outside is when it is raining, snowing, or the air quality or temperature is deemed dangerous for students to be outside.
