Dear Patrons:
I am certain by now many of you have heard Kearns High School received a failing school grade based on our student SAGE results. Let me assure you that this is NOT representative of who we are at Kearns High School or what we as a staff expect.
On Monday, September 14th, we met as a staff to reorganize and reflect on some things we need to do differently. We will continue to engage our students with fidelity to the core and are making sure we can meet the needs of ALL learners. We have devised a plan of action that we feel will help us achieve positive gains with our school grade. We will be focusing heavily on the following components:
1. Improving our ACT Scores.
2. Continuing to increase our graduation rates. (This has seen a continual climb – last year 71%).
3. Sustained proficiency level of assessments.
In order to help our students climb the achievement growth ladder with us, we need ALL parents of Kearns High School students to foster a culture of daily school attendance and to show engagement in the student learning process. We are convinced that if we (my staff and parents) work hand in hand, we will become a successful college-to-career high school, improve our school grade, and continue to be proud of our school and the community it represents.
Thank you for your continued support, we appreciate it!
Respectfully,
Maile Loo
Principal
