Kearns High School

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

2020-2021

Per Granite School District, USBE, and the CDC guidelines for COVID-19 safety, Kearns High has moved to an online registration process. Parents will be registering their student(s) by ONLINE PROCESS ONLY through the Granite District homepage. Please go to http://portal.graniteschools.org and either log in or create a parent portal account.

All forms will be available August 1st – 28th at the above site.  ALL students must be registered EVERY year by the legal guardian through the portal.

If you have not created a parent portal account for each of your secondary students, click on the Granite Portal Link and follow the steps to create an account. When you have done that and received email confirmation of the parent portal activation you need to login to the portal and click on the District Resources link, then click on the Registration Link and follow the instructions to complete your fall student registration and payment of fees.

If you have already created a parent portal account to access your student’s grades or Canvas account, go directly to the District Resources link in portal, then click on the Registration Link and follow the instructions to complete your fall student registration and payment of fees.

New students to the Granite School District will need to visit our school website to schedule an appointment with the Registrar. http://schools.graniteschools.org/kearnshigh (Acess the appointment form here.)

On completion of the registration process and when your fees are paid, you should be able to print a copy of your student’s schedule within 48 hours through the parent email address we have on file.

Student registration for the 2020-21 school year requires online internet access. If you do not have that capability available to you, please know that you may create your parent portal and/or complete your fall student registration and payment of fees at Kearns High School.  We will have Chromebooks and help available for this process on August 6th through August 11th in the Main Gym during the hours listed below. We are only allowing 60 individuals (one adult/guardian per student) during an hour period per safety and health protocols.

August 10        NEW STUDENTS ONLY                8:00 AM – 12:00
August 10                                                                 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
August 11                                                                  8:00 AM – 11:30 AM

Fee Waiver:
Parents please plan to take care of your student’s registration PRIOR to the first day of school as things become more hectic. All parents who are applying for fee waiver will fill out the form ONLINE and will need to provide 2019 Tax Returns (recent job loss verification, three recent check stubs, or Medicaid letter with proper dates). Fee waivers must be applied for within 30 days of the student’s registration date and applied for every school year. Again, the online process is for the safety and health of all participants.

Please be aware the basic fees are $65.00. All class fees will be put on your student’s account after all class changes have been made. Driver Education is $140.00, school magnet calendars are $1.00, and PTSA dues are $7.00. Parking Permits are $10.00 and will be issued only to 11th and 12th grade students due to the lack of parking stalls and will be available when school starts. See bookkeeper for form. Cars without decals will be ticketed.

New Refund Guidelines:
If a student is due a refund for any reason, the following are the new Granite School District guidelines:
1. The amount will be applied towards any other fees/fines owed to the school
2. If student is going to another Granite School District school, funds will be sent to new school
3. Refund the original credit card used within a 90-day window
4. Issue cash to the student if under $100
5. Issue cash to the parent/guardian for refunds $100.01 to $200.00
6. Issue a check to the parent/guardian for refunds over $200.01

If you have not registered by the first day of school, you cannot receive your schedule until you complete the registration process online. You will need to go to the Career Center the first day of school where you will be directed to register online.

Free and reduced lunch applications can be found at www.myschoolapps.com  Only one application is needed per household.

OTHER IMPORTANT DATES

•    August 21st
Orientation – 9th Grade/New Students ONLY – will be ‘VIRTUAL’ from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.  Planners and T-shirts may be picked up in the west parking lot.
•    August 13th through 21st
Teachers and counselors will NOT be available because of training and network meetings which are District mandated.
The school will be locked at 12:00 noon to prepare for the first day of school.
•    August 24th
First day of school – (A Day) Regular schedule.  The GTI busses will leave at
7:00 AM – All GTI fees will be paid at their facility.
•    September 3rd
Student Pictures taken during English classes. All Seniors will be photographed in a black college graduation gown and a green stole for the yearbook picture.
Make-ups will be on October 2nd.
•    September 21st and 22nd
Parent Teacher Conferences 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Distance Learning for the 2020-2021 school year: THIS FORM IS DUE NO LATER THAN AUGUST 6th! Please complete the form for each of your secondary students who will be participating in distance learning at Kearns High School.
