UPDATE-3/14/20-A
Morning KHS Family!
As promised, here is an update:
1. On Monday & Tuesday, our building WILL ONLY be open for students to pick up the “Grab & Go” during our normal mealtimes. (See our website, the post below this one, for more info regarding our meal services.) Teachers, counselors, administrators, and other staff members will be busy preparing for Wednesday.
2. We want to limit exposure risk for all members of the KHS Community, so access to our building will be very limited.
3. Teachers have been directed to monitor their email and Canvas account for student/parent questions, needs, and concerns.
4. Admin & Staff will answer inquiries by phone and email. Please be patient with us! Email is the preferred way – all our email addresses are available via our KHS webpage.
5. Beginning Wednesday, our learning process is primarily on-line. THERE WILL BE NO CLASSES TAUGHT IN THE SCHOOL. Students will not be allowed in classrooms. (Previously assigned assessments should be completed as directed.) Spring Break for students runs from Thursday through Monday, so you may not see any work/assignments posted for this time period.
6. For those students who need an electronic device for their schoolwork, the check-out procedure will be on Wednesday (3/18/20), 8:00am-11:00am, in the Media Center. (More Info to Follow)
7. For those students who do not have internet access, physical learning materials (packets) will be made available to you. If you need a packet, PLEASE EMAIL or leave a phone message with your teachers. PLEASE NOTE – Online Instruction will be our primary method of learning, but we recognize that specific students will need a different method. We will be flexible – we want your student’s learning to continue during this time!
8. PM School Students will use packets for their instruction. Your PM School Teachers will contact you by email/phone on Monday or Tuesday. As with our day students, there will be no in-class instruction.
9. Teachers must submit 3rd quarter grades by 3/19/2020. We understand that some students may need additional time to complete assignments due to previous illness or other excused absences. Our teachers will be flexible and will work with students & parents on an individual basis, as needed.
10. ALL ACTIVITIES, RENTALS, & EXTRACURRICULAR PRACTICES/REHEARSALS ARE CANCELLED DURING THIS TIME. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS!
11. GTI, JONES CENTER, & OFF-CAMPUS CLASSES – Your teacher will email/contact you with specific information.
12. QUESTIONS? Please email your student’s teacher as needed. For non-instructional questions/concerns – Email your student’s grade level administrator, the appropriate staff member, or your student’s Counselor. (Remember, email addresses can be found on our KHS website.) Don’t know where to direct your question/concern? Please leave them on our Facebook Page. We will answer as many as possible. GRADUATION – We are still planning on a May graduation!
13. LAST ITEM – We care about our students and want them to learn and succeed, even/especially during this period. We will work with parents and students to provide the best possible educational experience under these unique conditions. We also want our KHS Community and our own families to be safe. The goal of this “dismissal” is to limit physical contact and exposure for all of us and those we love. We all need to be patient with each other and ourselves. We can do this because we are KHS!
