Kearns High Patrons and Students,
I hope you are doing as well as you can be given our current situation with COVID-19. With the recent announcement by our State Superintendent, Dr. Syd Dickson, all Utah schools are in a “soft closure” for another two weeks.
We have all been affected by the recent earthquake and pandemic on top of our personal and private challenges that we face as families, which is no different then the rest of the world. It’s understandable that these disruptions might prompt feelings of frustrations, anxiety, and fear concerning your children’s education.
Kearns High Staff are moving forward and providing “distance learning” for your children. We are in the process of devising a plan to host credit recovery for our Seniors only at this time – more information to come soon. Recognizing the request for “social distance” by our authorities, we will accomplish this task with caution and safety for ALL in mind.
I would like to request that our students adhere to the following learning expectations moving forward:
-Access your teachers assignment via CANVAS or other platform that your teacher has chosen. They should have already communicated with you regarding the platform they are using.
-Be vigilant about completing your assignments. Do not procrastinate your student duties. You cannot receive credit without doing the work.
-If in doubt, email your teachers as we are keeping them safe and they are digitally working from home, but can be reached during the hours of 7:10 am- 2:40 pm, Monday through Friday unless, of course, we have a holiday. Please know that there might be some delays in their response as they are serving ALL of the students they teach on A/B days.
-If you are requesting to pick up a packet instead of doing things digitally please reach out to your teacher. They will let you know when to come to the school to pick that up. For your safety and convenience we are distributing them in the main hall.
-WE will be serving breakfast from 8:00-9:00 am and lunch from 11:30 am-1:00 pm. Enter in the EAST cafeteria doors.
-Remember that we are still on Spring Break through Monday. Distance learning and food services will resume on Tuesday, March 24th.
-Parents, we ask for your support and guidance to check to make sure your students are staying up to date with their school assignments.
-Lastly, Kearns High Students remember, “This is NOT a vacation for you.” You are still expected to complete your assignments to receive credit.
Thanks for your continued support for this “new normal” format that we are being asked to use to deliver your education. My staff is here to support you. Please email as needed.
Respectfully,
Principal Loo
