Dear Concurrent Enrollment Student,
Due to the unusual circumstances we are currently dealing with, there have been questions raised regarding 4th quarter grading procedures relative to concurrent enrollment classes. Most of you have likely received information about the pass/incomplete option that will exist for most of your 4th quarter classes. However, after visiting with the Utah System of Higher Education office and with the upper administration of Granite School District, it has been determined that the best and safest course of action for 4th quarter grading of concurrent enrollment classes is to stick to our existing concurrent enrollment grading practice. This practice requires concurrent enrollment teachers to assign letter grades to concurrent enrollment students. This means you, as a concurrent enrollment student, will receive a letter grade on your high school report card/transcript for every concurrent enrollment course you have in your schedule. This letter grade will match the letter grade transmitted to the college. If you wish to receive a P-grade for your concurrent enrollment class instead of the assigned letter grade, you must make your request in writing to your high school and consult with your school counselor to assure you understand the long-term ramifications and potential impacts on your future program of study. This is the only way we can guarantee there won’t be a negative impact on your college transcript/eligibility going forward. A P-grade from the high school in a concurrent enrollment course will not match properly with the college grading system and may result in undesirable or unintended consequences. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your school counselor or your school concurrent enrollment coordinator.
Sincerely,
James A. Taylor
