Good Evening Faculty, Staff, Parents, and Students:
Although we have had a 4th quarter of uncertainty, I believe the year ended memorably given the restrictions of social distancing and Covid-19. Thanks all for your assistance and endearing passion to end the year strong.
We at Kearns are so proud of all of our students for working hard through our distance learning platform directed by the CDC, Governor Herbert, State Board President Syd Dickson, and our Superintendent Martin Bates. We understand it was not ideal for many, but we will continue to work with all who choose to engage this summer making up incomplete grades. More direction will be sent out on May 31st.
To our Senior Class of 2020, you make us so proud with your many scholarly accomplishments, athletic accolades, and your perseverance during 4th quarter. WE, your educational staff, want to wish you success as you move into the world and onto another journey to continue your excellence. As a tribute to you and your family, we present you with a lasting gift: your commemorative graduation video, to keep and show your posterity all that you have endured! “Once a Cougar, Always a Cougar!”
A few last minute updates:
-Seniors, if you were one of the first ten through the graduation “walk activity”, please call the main office on Tuesday. We have a panoramic senior gift picture for you. I know, it is NOT what you all are used to doing or seeing, but it was created by Jostens at my request. A special memorable gift!
-Watch for my last update to follow on May 31st, highlighting what your summer will look like making up your incomplete grades. Remember, seniors have until August 21st and underclassmen have until October 22nd before these grades will be final.
– Chromebooks drop-offs will still be accepted in the main hall this week, Tuesday and Wednesday ONLY, from 8:00 – 2:00. Starting Monday, June 1st, this will be scaled back to M, W, F from 8:00 – 12:00. You have been asked to reach out to your grade level administrator if you are making up incomplete grades and need to keep your Chromebook. That is the ONLY reason you will be allowed to keep it during the summer. We will need them back as soon as you have completed your work, and at the latest by August 21st unless you have made special arrangements. If you have not reached out to the administration and have not returned the Chromebook in the next two weeks the Chromebook will be blocked.
Thanks to all for your continued hard work and for making Kearns High an awesome school to be a part of, you are all incredible! Be safe, stay healthy, and enjoy your summer.
Respectfully,
Principal Loo
