Parents and Students:
As the 2020 school year has ended we at Kearns High are still working to coordinate some added pieces of completion for 4th quarter. As this is difficult and different from any other year, I feel compelled to share what we will be doing this summer to assist with any student who received an incomplete grade for 4th quarter, per our district incomplete grade policy.
Here are our summer plans:
-Two departments, English and Art, have elected to run ALL of their incomplete grade make-up through an online credit recovery system. Your teachers would have informed you of this support through Canvas. Your names have already been submitted and you have been added to the new courses. Please login to your Canvas and look for the 2020 4th Quarter Art or English Incomplete Make-Up course and complete the correct grade level/section as directed by your teacher. Two of my counselors will be assisting with this platform, Uinalu and Laflora Fonua.
-Seniors receiving incompletes and working on credit recovery will continue to have a counselor, Cheri Jacobson, assisting. Remember seniors – you have until August 31 to complete your academic work.
-Some of our teachers have chosen to prepare a paper packet for you to complete:

Throughout the month of June we will be open in the main hall on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00 – noon. We will have our adult aides handing out packets from the above teachers and collecting them. Please come to the school only during those times as we are still being asked to follow CDC rules and attempting to keep everyone safe while still providing a packet program for those who choose.
-The rest of your teachers, those not listed above as well as the English and Art departments, will be conducting make-ups through your existing Canvas courses. Please check the Canvas pages of these teachers and follow the instructions they have provided you. You are welcome to complete the work you did not complete, submit the work, and your teachers will grade them when they return to contract in mid-August. I apologize, but no feedback will be given on your progress as all teachers are off contract.
-We will also be collecting your Chromebooks, textbooks, and library books in the main hall on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00 – noon. If you are keeping your Chromebook to work on your incompletes you MUST contact your grade level administrator to be put on a list. In the next couple of weeks those Chromebooks that have not been approved to be kept will be locked by the district. Again – you must return or make arrangements to keep the Chromebooks by the end of this week!
-If you ordered a yearbook and had it personalized, please come to the school on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday from 8:00 – noon and we will assist you with retrieving your yearbook. If you bought a book recently please bring your receipt with you. We still have extras available.
-If you would like to pay fees you may come to the school during the same opening times, or pay your fees on our web store.
-For those who missed the athletic locker clean outs, our custodians are now doing summer cleaning. They will put everything in a plastic bag with your locker number on it for you. We will post on social media when you can come into the school to pick up your personal items.
-If you have other questions please call the main office at 385-646-5380, and we will do our best to respond.
Enjoy your summer and be safe.
Respectfully,
Principal Loo
