7:30-2:10
April 14, 2021
Kearns High School Parents, Guardians, and Students,
All 9th and 10th grade students will be taking the ASPIRE test on April 14th, 2021. Distance learners must come on campus during this time to take the test – It cannot be taken from home. 11th and 12th grade students will be on a distance learning day and will not be allowed on campus. GTI busses will be on regular schedule for 11th and 12th grade GTI students.
ALL STUDENTS MUST BRING THEIR FULLY CHARGED SCHOOL ISSUED CHROMEBOOK TO COMPLETE THIS TEST! We cannot check out an additional Chromebook to those who already have one or provide chargers for everyone – please come prepared. If your Chromebook dies during the test you will be moved to a different room and required to make up the test on a different day. If you are having any issues with your Chromebook please bring it down to the library before next Wednesday so we can make sure you have a working device. Distance learners who do not have a school Chromebook can check one out the morning of the test. Please arrive in plenty of time to complete this checkout. This device MUST be returned right after the test ends.
The Utah Aspire Plus is a hybrid of America College Test (ACT) Aspire and Utah Core test items that replaces the SAGE test. This is a computer delivered, fixed form high school assessment for students in grades 9 and 10. The test will include subtests for Reading, English, Math, and Science. The tests will provide students a predictive score for the ACT, which is taken by all Utah 11th grade students, and is the most commonly submitted college readiness assessment for local universities.
Students will be provided a lunch or may bring food from home. Students will not be allowed to leave the school during the testing day. Food cannot be delivered to students during the testing day. Free breakfast will be offered the day of testing.
Room assignments/rosters will be posted on Monday, April 12th on the glass display case in the main hall. They will also be posted on your English teacher’s Canvas page. Please check these lists so you know where to go on the morning of the test. If you are new to Kearns this quarter you may not be on the rosters. You SHOULD NOT come for testing on this day and will be contacted for make-up testing at a later day.
Phones will not be allowed during the test and must be kept in a backpack or at home. If you need to contact your student or have questions, call the main office 385-646-6620.
Please help your student have a good testing experience by allowing them plenty of sleep and arriving on time for the test.
Parents have the option to opt their students out of the Aspire Plus assessment by filling out this form and returning it to the school: Aspire Opt-Out Form
