Kearns High Seniors and Parents:
We apologize for the various changes surrounding our graduation this 2021 year; it was not intentional. Due to the University of Utah’s cancellation two weeks ago surrounding COVID concerns, Granite District was forced to try and secure an alternate outside venue.
Superintendent Bates wanted our Seniors to drive the final decision. Two options were placed on a survey that was published via English classes and social media on Wednesday. About half of our Seniors participated.
The options on the survey were:
- Option 1: A drive by on campus similar to last year or
- Option 2: An outdoor graduation at USANA
87% chose USANA. With that decision made by our Senior Class of 2021 graduation will be as follows:
Date: Thursday, June 3, 2021
Time: 1:00 pm
Place: USANA Amphitheatre
Restrictions: Social distancing and masks must be worn.
Invited guests: At the moment it is at two per graduate. We are waiting on the Health Department and USANA to confirm the exact guest amount, which could be increased. More info coming.
In the event of inclement weather this event will take place in the Kearns High auditorium on the same date. However, due to the Health Department guidelines we will need to have two ceremonies. The time will be adjusted and only two guests will be allowed.
More information to follow if the inclement weather plan must be executed.
Once again, please know that our Seniors wanted this venue to allow them to be among all their classmates for the ceremony. As a school and district we will carry out the wishes of our students with safety measures in place.
Thanks for your continued support.
Respectfully,
Principal Loo
