Dear Kearns High Parents:
As the school year quickly comes to an end I wanted to let you know how much I have appreciated your continual support of my staff and I working together to provide the best education possible for your students. It has been a pleasure serving this community, even through a stressful pandemic year. We are hopeful that those safeguards will be in our past and we will see nothing but academic growth in our “New Normal” future.
As we prepare to end the year, we have a few opportunities to share to continue to support our student’s learning capacity through the summer.
Kearns High will be offering the following learning modalities over the summer:
-9th grade, June 7-18 from 10-noon, in person credit recovery only. Access for these courses ends at midnight on June 18.
-10th grade June 7-18 from 10-noon, in person credit recovery only.
-10th grade June 14-July 1 from 8:00-11, in person summer school for those failing two or more core classes.
-10th grade June 19-July 1 online credit recovery only.
-11th grade June 7-July 27 online credit recovery only. Credit recovery access ends July 27th at midnight.
Students, please take advantage of the FREE opportunity to recover from some of the credit difficulties you have had over the past school year. This will help you can begin the new school year off on a positive and less stressful note. Please reach out to your counselor, Mr. Hansen, or Mrs. Johnson with questions about which program is right for you.
A few reminders to our Seniors:
– Senior Sunset is on Tuesday, June 1stfrom 8-10 pm in the football stadium.
– Senior graduation review and practice will be on Wednesday, June 2nd from 8:00 am -10:00 am in the auditorium. Seniors, please do not miss this practice. We will be sharing important USANA graduation protocols and information.
– The final time for you to pick up your cap and gown and clear to walk is 10:00 am on Thursday, June 3rd. We need to have a final count by then to report to USANA.
– Our graduation ceremony will begin at 1:00pm on Thursday, June 3rd.
– Please see this map for guidance on entrance and parking for patrons and students at the graduation ceremony at USANA.
– Per USANA, any confetti tossing by guests or students will result in a $5,000 for a cleanup fee. The senior’s diploma will be pulled and not released until the fine is paid to USANA. Let’s show our Cougar Pride by obeying the rules and being proper guests in this facility.
We would like to see our entire student body at our farewell assembly on Tuesday, June 1st in the auditorium from 8:35-10:15 am. Yearbooks will be distributed after the assembly to all who have purchased one. Please listen for the announcements on when and where to pick them up.
Due to state, district, and CDC changes, masks are no longer required in our building during the last week of school. However, they are still highly recommended as we want our students to end the school year safe and healthy. Parents, please inform your students of your preferences, but know that we will not be enforcing it.
On behalf of Kearns High, we would like to thank you all for an amazing year of learning and your continual support. We are so grateful for the resiliency of our students and proud of all of their accomplishments. Have a great and safe summer and we will see you all in the fall.
Respectfully,
Principal Loo
