Parent-Teacher Conferences are just around the corner! They will be September 27th and 28th from 4:00-7:00 pm.
September 27th will be the in-person Parent-Teacher Conference here at Kearns High School. Half of our teachers will be in the cafeteria/lunchroom and the other half in the main gym. Below is a list of where your teachers will be. There are a few teachers who will be in their own classrooms and their room numbers are listed below. You will not need to sign up for the in-person night, you will be able to access teachers from 4:00-7:00. Since teachers will be in two locations, you may want to plan to see all your child’s teachers in one location before going to the other to avoid going back and forth from the cafeteria and gym. We also ask that you do your best to social distance while waiting in line. We highly encourage you to wear a mask to parent teacher conferences as well.
September 28th will be VIRTUAL MEETINGS ONLY, there will be no in person option. Starting today, Monday September 20th, we will open the signups so you can schedule a time to meet with your teachers. Each teacher would like to accommodate what works best for you by offering a phone call conference, a virtual Zoom meeting, or just communication through email. You may sign up using this link. We will be closing signups by Friday at 3:00 PM so pick a time quickly!!
More information and additional sessions you may want to attend:
- Students taking an Advanced Placement (AP) course are invited to a presentation from Mr. Angell and Ms. Keene. If you have an AP class, you should attend since they will highlight important things to remember, talking a little about Equal Opportunity Schools (EOS) and giving information that you will need to help you be successful. This will be held in-person on Monday, September 27th from 5:30-6:00 in the auditorium. It will also be available virtually on Tuesday, September 28th from 5:30-6:00. Mr. Angell and Ms. Keene will provide the AP students with more information on how to access that live-virtual presentation.
- All parents and students are invited to learn more about the great opportunities available in high school. Uinalu Fonua, from our Career Center and Walt Acra, from GEAR UP will speaking about the Granite Technical Institute, CTE Pathways, Advanced Placement Courses and Concurrent Enrollment Courses. On Monday September 27th, they will be presenting in the auditorium from 6:00-6:30. They will also be hosting a virtual presentation on September 28th through Zoom at the same time, 6:00-6:30. - Our Family Center will be open on Monday, September 27th. Here you will find helpful resources and items to take home if needed. Come check it out!
- Ms. Duran will be available in the Media Center to answer any questions you may have about accessing your child’s grades through The Parent Portal.
- Counselors are available if you have questions about being on track for graduation and more.
- If you would like to take your smaller children to room 135 to color and play with while you meet with your teachers, our students from our Latinos In Action (LIA) classes will be available to hang out with your smaller children.
- Finally, there will be a few people available for Spanish translation on both the in-person and virtual night. On the in-person night, the interpreters will be around and we can help you find someone. For the virtual night, you can sign up to for an interpreter using the Google Signup forms for each teacher.
