October 18, 2021School Happenings

As the weather begins to change, we wanted to send a reminder about the Morningside traffic policy. We are grateful for the help of our PTA, School Community Council, and Holladay City Police in coming up with a plan for safe arrival and departure from school. Please continue to show kindness and respect to our teachers, staff, safety patrol, and volunteer patrons as we assist you safely in picking up and dropping off your student. Please review the pick-up/drop-off policies below, they are organized by location for your convenience.

Morningside Traffic Policies

South Area (Bluebell Drive)

1.  The north side of the road from Lisa Dr. to the school entrance is a “pickup/dropoff/wait” zone.  Please move forward as cars in front of you leave.  Do not exit your car.  Children can load/unload along the entire curb, as you feel comfortable.

2. The red curbed area is for active loading and unloading only, no parking or waiting.

3. Use crosswalks.  Obey crossing guard. Do not double park/let children off in traffic/encourage them to walk between cars.

4. Parking is not allowed in the “coned” areas along Bluebell. These spaces are necessary for bus maneuvering.

Northeast (church-owned) Parking Lot

1. The “coned” area (the parking stalls along the sidewalk exiting the school fence) is a pickup/dropoff zone. You may use the full length of the coned area to load/unload your children.  Please do not park in any of these stalls.

2. This lot has multiple entrances.  Please use the center for parking, and the outer two for the pickup/dropoff pattern.

3. The westernmost entrance (the one by the school sidewalk described in #1) is an Exit only. The easternmost entrance (nearest the church building) is an Entrance only.

Because the lot is owned by the church, not the school, it cannot be restriped to reflect these traffic policies.  We appreciate your adherence, regardless of striping.

Northwest (school-owned) Parking Lot

1. Please park only in marked stalls.

2. Follow painted traffic flow pattern; utilize full length of sidewalk for pick up/drop off.

West (teacher) Parking Lot

1. The West lot is only for teacher parking and for student pick up/drop off during school hours (i.e., for appointments).  It should not be used for tardy student drop off within the first few minutes of school.

2. At no time–even “just for a moment”–is parking allowed in the striped area at the bottom of the stairs.

Lisa Way (also labeled as 3080 E. and 3100 E.)

Lisa Way is a great spot to drop off or park–children can cross the field and meet classmates behind the school.

We know pickup/drop off time is stressful (boy, do we know!)! Please model the patience, consideration, and safety which we want our children to exhibit. Please make all drivers of your children (grandparents, babysitters, day care services) aware of these policies.  Together, let’s keep our children safe.

Go Mustangs!
