What is the PTA?

(Parent Teacher Association)

Involvement– Studies show children do better in school with parental involvement.  There are many ways to be involved: staying informed on what is happening at school; reading newsletters or meeting minutes; attending meetings; volunteering for programs or roles that interest you and fit in your schedule; sharing your ideas, concerns, experience & resources.  Any one of these shows your child that you are interested and invested in their educational experience. Choose the method of involvement that works best for you!

                        I want to be involved!

Support–         With the basic $10 membership, portions go to the State and National PTA levels ($4), supporting advocacy for children.  Their mission is to support and speak on behalf of children and youth; encourage positive involvement in all facets of a child’s life; assist in developing skills to raise and protect children and youth.  The rest of the membership fee covers administrative costs for our own Morningside PTA ($6) (i.e. liability insurance, postage, printing, copying, and council dues etc.).

Through silver, bronze, gold and platinum memberships, an additional $35 is donated per student directly to the Morningside Programs.  With this one-time donation per student, we are able to fund all of the programs listed below.

I want to show my support!

Connection-   Teachers, parents, students, and the community come together to learn, teach, celebrate, change, lead, volunteer, listen and stay informed.  Everyone has a place, a voice and a choice with their Morningside PTA membership.

I want to be a member!

Teacher Appreciation:

Parent volunteers along with room parents produce one special week of activities focused on celebrating and thanking our wonderful teachers and staff. Monthly appreciation, support and coordination is provided throughout the school year.
