News Letter
PANTHER NEWS – Pleasant Green Elementary – October 2020
Growth Mindset for the Month
October’s Growth Mindset mantra is “My brain is a muscle that can grow!” The quote for the month is, “The measure of intelligence is the ability to change.” -Albert Einstein
Learning Choices
The window for choosing face to face or distance learning closes on October 9th. Once submitted, this will need to be the same throughout quarter 2. It is VERY difficult for us to change arrangements in classrooms, so we need to be consistent. http://bit.ly/LearningOption2ndQtr
Fruits & Veggies Program
We are looking at fun bunch of fruits & veggies this month. Students will be snacking on Granny Smith apples, beets, tomatoes and more! Ask you students what they like about their treats this week.
COVID Information
Parents please continue to screen your children daily, including direct exposures from others who are ill and/or awaiting a Covid test result. If experiencing symptoms, consult the Heath Department guidelines and communicate with the PG office so we can gather materials as needed. Students must be symptom free for 24 hours without medication before returning to school. SL County Covid-19 Hotline 1-800-456-7707
NEW Family Engagement Center!!
Pleasant Green is excited to announce the opening of our Family Engagement Center and our fabulous coordinator. Silviane Perkins comes to us with a wealth of experience teaching parents & students ESL, computer/job skills, connecting families with things they need to succeed (food, clothing, insurance options, and many more!). Please email her at scperkins@graniteschools.org or call 385-646-4972.
SafeUT
The SafeUT app is a great tool to notify the school of anything you see as concerning or out of the norm. The app allows you to submit tips anonymously and timely for the safety of all.
Changes in the Weather
As with every fall in Utah, it is often cool in the mornings and warm in the afternoons. Please make sure that your child wears weather appropriate clothing. **LABELING CLOTHING ON TAGS IS VERY HELPFUL IN RETURNING LOST ITEMS.
Halloween fun
PG will have a ‘Covid safe’ celebration allowing kids to have the fun they deserve. We will allow students to wear costumes and have a party of sorts. If weather permits, we will do a parade around the perimeter of the school grounds. Parents will be able to stand on the edge of school grounds and watch kids at a safe physical distance. If you wish to contact your teachers for possible donations, please do so. Our goal is for a craft and/or game with a short video. We cannot allow outside food or treats at this time.
