The Administration and Teachers will be working on…
- Our instructional focus, which is following the “Granite Way.” The “Granite Way” are five areas that teachers must work on per District mandate. These five non-negotiables are: Using District provided tools and assessments, exercising fidelity to the Common Core, using the District’s instructional framework, working within Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and implementing Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
- Stating daily content and language objectives
- Posting a daily agenda
- Effective and consistent interventions/enrichment and supports (including small group instruction and flex time)
- Timely and organized data collection and analysis (observations, assessments and progress monitoring)
- Quality instruction that keeps pace with and is aligned to the Common Core Standards
- Using Positive Behavioral Supports and Interventions
- Individualized classroom management techniques to enhance learning and instructional time
- Differentiated instruction to ensure all students are engaged and able to learn daily content objectives
Students will be working on…
- Doing quality work and handing in assignments
- Learning and adhering to the school wide behavioral expectations (Be Respectful, Keep Your Hands, Feet and Other Objects to Yourself – KYHFOOTY, Be a Leader)
- Self-discipline and doing their best
- Monitoring their own grades and progress through student portfolios
- Working towards rewards
- Reflecting on their learning and growth
- Increasing their scores in Language Arts, Math and Science to demonstrate proficiency/growth
How parents/guardians can help us reach our goals…
- Be involved in your child’s education
- Check your child’s grades often online (Gradebook)
- Volunteer wherever and whenever you can
- Become a member of the PTA
- Read with your child every night
- Make sure your child does his/her homework (follow up with teacher if your student is saying he/she doesn’t have any)
- Insist that your child does quality work and performs at his/her best
- Work with teachers and the principal if you have questions or concerns
