December 11th Update
Updates from Upland
Celebrations
We have a couple things to celebrate this month. The first thing is, we had an open house on Friday, December 5th to recruit more students for Upland Terrace. While the turnout would have been greater with a different boundary study outcome, we still had people show up and many who were floored by our school, our programs and our amazing students who were present to give tours and answer questions. We will definitely be getting additional students from this effort. Thank you for your support and for volunteering your charismatic children!
Our next celebration is that we had the best attendance out of ALL schools in Granite district for the months of September, October, AND November. This is absolutely incredible, and we appreciate your efforts to get your students to school and on time. Let’s keep this momentum going throughout this year.
Attendance and Illness
We’re in the thick of it with student illnesses. We are doing our best to keep the rooms cleaned and sanitized and to remind students to wash their hands. Please help us with that message at home as well. You can click on this link to view some district guidelines if you’re wondering when to keep your student home.
As many of you know, we run an attendance reward program. This is to incentivize student attendance. The students have been told though that if they are sick, they should stay home to rest. As long as their parent calls the office or emails their teacher about their absence, their class will still get the reward.
Upcoming Events
-December 12th at 9:30 is our orchestra concert. If you have a student in orchestra, I will share a recording on Monday, December 15th.
-December 16th is our holiday movie day as a treat to the students, and their teachers since they get a break during the movie. On this day students can bring one item to cuddle with, a water bottle and a snack. Although all students will be given popcorn as a treat during the movie. Each grade level will come separately to the movie, and they will watch the same movie. It’s the 1964 stop motion version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
-December 18th at 9:30 is our holiday sing around for parents. The whole program only takes 45 minutes and will be finished by 10:15. Each grade level is only on stage for about 7 minutes, so the best thing is to just plan on attending it all, so you don’t miss your student. If you cannot attend this event, I will also record this event and send a link later.
-December 19th is pajama day and an early release day (1:40) for students. We sing together as a school on this day and we request that no visitors come for this as it is not a public event. We will turn any visitors away at the time of our sing around.
-December 22nd-January 6th there is no school for students. The first day back from break for kids is Wednesday, January 7th.
