Pocket Full of Colors by Amy Guglielmo and Jacqueline Tourville tells the fascinating story of Mary Blair, Disney artist extraordinaire. It’s a Beehive Book nominee for 2019 in the informational category. From her imaginative childhood to her career as an illustrator, designer and animator for Walt Disney Studios, Mary saw the world in vivid hughes everywhere she went. She challenged the men at Disney, who only thought in black and white, with peach giraffes and magenta horses that could fly. After leaving the studio, Mary was eventually hired back by Walt Disney himself to create the colorful and iconic “It’s a Small World” ride at Disneyland.
