Gustavo the Shy Ghost
This week our K-2nd grade students get to hear me read this new book during library time. Gustavo the ghost tries his best to make friends, but he’s so shy, he never gets noticed. Until one day he decides to do something about it and invites everyone to a violin concert at the cemetary during the Day of the Dead festival. At first, it seems his plan has failed. But by playing his violin anyway, Gustavo ends up making new friends and finding a place for himself.
Written and illustrated by Mexican author Flavia Drago, this book is full of colorful shapes and colors. Our students are loving the combination of Halloween / Day of the Dead with themes like making friends and fitting in. Available for check out next week.
In addition, this week I am introducing Best Books/Battle of the Books to Students in grades 3 -5. It is a lot of information, but instead of a take-home packet, everything is on our school website under “Library Happenings – Best Books.” There’s also a link to the district website, which is packed full of helpful information. Check it out!
