This week we finally get to find out which picture book won the Beehive Book Award! As a reminder, this is a book award given to a children’s book voted on only by kids, unlike the Caldecott or Newbery awards, which are voted on by adults. Kids across the state vote in their school library or city and county libraries for their favorite book. We have read all 10 books from the picture book cateogry and had a lot of fun voting on each one. Our Upland Terrace pick for favorite book just happens to be the same one kids across the state chose!
This was the stand out favorite at our school with 304 votes and the winner of The Beehive Book Award! Our next favorite was:
The Neighbors with 288 votes.
Coming in 3rd place at Upland Terrace was:
Oliver had 281, followed very closely by:
Jasper & Ollie with 280. Whew! That was a close one – I had to count 3 times to make sure! All of these books will be a part of our permanent library collection next year and can be found in abundance at city and county libraries if you want to check them out over the summer. Find out which one your child enjoyed the most. They are all entertaining!
