This week we are talking about all things graphic novel during library time. There are so many different kinds of graphic novels, I thought it would be fun to teach students how to select one they might like, how to read graphic novels and what to watch for. These type of books are here to stay – they are so popular with kids, they are great for reluctant readers, visual readers, really any reader. Just like regular books, there is a wide variety that caters to different interests and reading levels. And increasingly there is a lot of evidence to support kids reading graphic novels as part of their curriculum and for enjoyment. Our graphic novel section in the library continues to grow every year as I add new titles and popular series. Talk to your kids about graphic novels. They’ll have a lot to say!
