March 14, 2022Library Happenings This week we are reading the imaginative book Lift, by Minh Le, illustrated by Dan Santat. This is a Beehive nominee in the picture book category, but it has the feel of a graphic novel. The story is told in very few words, but the pictures say everything! When Iris is feeling down, there’s one thing she can count on to cheer her up: PUSHING ELEVATOR BUTTONS! Iris loves to push the buttons for her family. But one day her little brother beats her to it. As she is sulking in a corner, she notices the maintenance man has taken off a button panel from the wall. Quickly Iris grabs it and tapes it to the wall in her room when she gets home. Just for fun she presses the button….and it lights up! Soon a whole world opens up to her from behind her own elevator door. What new adventures await her? And could she include her little brother? We’ll vote on this one this week!
