Welcome back to school and happy new year! We’re excited to have our students back in the building, but not as excited as you are I bet 😉. The holiday season has ended, which means the potential for new smart watches/ phones is high. I wanted to give a reminder about our school cell phone/ smart watch policy. Our policy is in line with district and state expectations and it is listed inside of our student handbook. Not sure where to find our student handbook? It was in the beginning of the year folder, but who remembers where that is? I have just added our student handbook to our website under the “parent links” tab. The gist of the policy is, no cell phones or smart watches during school hours. Students are welcome to bring them to school but need to turn them off and keep them in their backpacks during school hours. The only exceptions to this rule are students with health care plans whose parents have discussed it with Ms. Anderson.
Spirit week is coming! It will be January 12th-16th and a flyer will be sent home soon. Thank you to our wonderful PTA for acknowledging the January gloom we can all feel and for bringing some fun into school at this time.
5th grade parents: Wasatch Jr. High will be coming on January 20th at 12:15 to show your students how to register for classes for next year and to answer any questions they, or you, may have. Parents are welcome to attend this meeting. If you cannot make it, the packet that will be sent home with your student on that day will have ample information for you to navigate through this process. I will also take copious notes in case you’d like to ask me questions as I may be easier to track down. I’d also be willing to send out a Teams Virtual Meeting Link if any parents think they can attend virtually during your lunch break. Let me know if you need this option.
Hello from Upland’s STEAM Lab!
A HUGE thank you to everyone who has donated cardboard, supplies, items from our Amazon Wishlist, and—most importantly—their time. We have had such a fun and successful semester! We just wrapped up our cardboard projects, and last week students had a blast exploring some fun STEM kits.
We are continuing to collect plastic bottles (both small water bottles and large 2-liter bottles). We have a fun project coming up in January and need one bottle per student—over 400 total! Please save your bottles over the break and bring them to STEAM or the front office when we return so every student can participate.
We’re excited to jump back into STEAM after the long break! Parent volunteers are always welcome if you’d like to be an extra set of hands—no pressure at all. It’s a fun way to interact with students and see STEAM in action. Below is the link for our January Sign-Up Genius.
Thank you again for your incredible support!
