We did it!
Our first “week” of school has come to a close and having students back in the building was so wonderful. We were very impressed with all of our students and how they settled right in to new routines and remembered all of our school expectations. Upland Terrace students truly are THE BEST! Thank you for sharing them with us. 🤗 Kindergarten starts on Monday and we can’t wait to meet them! Our kindergartners have early release for the whole week (August 17-21), which means they are out at 1:40 each day. Consider it a soft launch into kindergarten. If your student is a bus rider, the bus will pick them up at 1:40 and will still return for the rest of our students at 3:45.
Here are the rest of our updates for the coming week:
- Our Upland Terrace School Community Council (SCC) needs more members. Each member who serves on our SCC has a two year term. We have staggered our memberships so that each year we will need 5 new members. So, we are looking for 5 new parents who would like to join us in making important decisions for our school. You can read more about what joining SCC means by opening the attachment. I have also linked the Declaration of Candidacy form (Google Document) that you can fill out and return to Ms. Anderson if you’re interested in joining. This form is due by August 19th. We have a lot of fun and sometimes treats are involved!
- Upland Terrace will have orchestra again. We need more students to ensure this happens, so please sign-up! Your 3rd-5th grader will come home with a flyer on Monday, I have also attached it here.
- Many of you have asked about our bus stop locations. Email Ms. Anderson for our bus stops and bus numbers.
- I have also attached our August and September parent calendar so you can plan ahead with some of our upcoming dates. We hope to see you at our school carnival on September 11th from 4:00-7:00pm.
I’ll be sending out more information next week, but these are the items that needed to be discussed now. Thanks for a great start to our school year!
