November 21st Email Update
Hello Everyone!
I’m not sure where November came from, but we’re already almost through it! 🤪
Attendance
We had the 4th highest attendance in Granite School District during the month of October. Way to go Upland! I have attached a November attendance newsletter that has some tips and tricks for helping with student attendance. As we enter into the holiday season, we hope to have our students here as much as possible and appreciate your commitment to your students’ academic success.
As always, we know illnesses happen and want to remind everyone that staying home when you’re sick is just fine. We just ask that parents call in to excuse their students’ absences. Every student gets 10 unexcused absences before we send truancy letters home. We’re in a really great spot with attendance right now and we hope to see it continue.
Holiday Season
Please make sure to check the attached calendar to know upcoming events and when school is in session. Also, there are a lot of fun events in December and some that parents are invited to join. If it’s on the calendar with a time, parents are invited.
Next week we are only in session on Monday and Tuesday, with Tuesday being a short day. No school November 27th-29th.
Lunch
I have bad news for some students, there is a district wide pizza shortage. So, tomorrow’s lunch, November 22nd, will be chili. We wanted to let you know so we don’t have too many upset friends on pizza day.
Maturation
4th and 5th grade parents, you should have seen a permission slip come home for a maturation program. Please make sure your student’s teacher has the permission slip by tomorrow, November 22nd, so we can plan accordingly. This is not mandatory and students who are opted out of the program will still have something to do while they’re here. Parents are invited to attend the program with their student if they choose. The program for boys will be on November 25th at 1:00 and the program for girls will be on November 25h at 2:00.
Drill Day
As you know, we do monthly safety drills. I have not chosen which type of drill we will be doing yet (waiting for the weather report), but we will be completing one on Tuesday, November 26th. Ensure your students know it is a drill and that we do them to be prepared. We hope it is never a scary event for students.
Thanks for all you do to support us! It takes a village and we’re so lucky to be in it with you! 🤗
