Dear Parents and Students:
School Community Council Elections:
We are currently accepting Declaration of Candidacy forms for our School Community Council. We have 3 open positions this year. We need your involvement. The link below is the Declaration of Candidacy form. The due date is August 30th by 3:00pm. The role of the Council is to appropriate Land Trust Funds, assist with the school improvement plan and many other vital issues. We meet on the first Thursday of each month at 6:45am for an hour. Please come get involved in an important aspect of Wasatch Jr. High.
Covid Safety Procedures:
For safety measures this year many of the same precautions are taking place. We recommend masks to be worn, we will try to social distance as much as possible and sanitizing equipment and student spaces. For more comprehensive information, please visit the Granite School District’s Covid-19 Updates page.
Back to School Night:
We will be having a Back to School Night on August 25th 6-8pm. There are 3 purposes for this evening: (1) for parents to meet their students’ teachers and ask questions of them. (2) Teach students and parents how to access Canvas and Gradebook. This will be done in the library. (3) Give you information on sports, clubs and activities at Wasatch. Come enjoy the evening and get a treat.
Fall Yearbook Pictures:
Pictures will be taken on Thursday, 9/2 during your students Math class. A flyer went home with students today if you would like to purchase photos. More forms are available on the Front Office. This photo is used for their student ID, Lunch PIN and Trading Post. Kind of a big deal. So come looking your best.
Fall Sports:
X-Country (boys and girls) begins on Monday 8/23, and boys and girls soccer shortly thereafter. If you’re interested, contact Mr. Petersen in room 219 for more information.
Late to School?
Parents please remember that if you student is late to school, please either walk them in to the Front Office or sent them with a note to excuse them. Please be on time as they miss important instruction and it effects their citizenship grade. There are consequences for students that are late multiple times and rewards at the end of each quarter for students with zero tardies.
The Weeks Ahead:
8/25—Back to School night 6-8pm
8/26—AM Assembly Schedule
9/2—Fall Pictures for yearbook
That’s all for this week,
John Anderson
