SOUPER BOWL OF CARING
We are participating as a school in the “Souper Bowl of Caring” during the week of January 31 through February 4th . There are more than 8,000 students in the Granite School District living at or below the poverty level. Sadly, many of them don’t eat at home on weekends, holidays and school breaks. The Granite School District is facing a hunger epidemic. The Granite School District has over 700 homeless students. If you haven’t skipped a meal, it might be hard to understand how students find themselves in this predicament. There are parents choosing between rent, medicine, and food.
THE SOLUTION?
You! It takes your donation to fund these programs! The Souper Bowl of Caring is designed so that every participating group donates 100% of their donation to the charity of their choice. By donating to the Granite Education Foundation, 100% your donation will be used to fight the hunger epidemic in the Granite School District. Donations can be made on our website or in person or students can donate during each lunch.
The SBO’s have set a goal of raising $1500. We will be having various activities to collect donations throughout the next two weeks. We prefer money as the Granite Education Foundation and Food Pantry has 7 times the buying power than we do. For example, if one can of stew cost $1, we could only buy one can. But the Foundation and Pantry can purchase 7 cans with the same dollar. If each student brought $2 we would meet our goal. Thanks for all your help in this great cause.
OPEN ENROLLMENT:
The time for Open Enrollment or boundary permits is now open. If you currently have a student in Wasatch, it is not necessary to fill out a form yearly, but if you have a new incoming student 6th-8th grade, you will need to fill out an Open Enrollment form. If your student has an open enrollment permit at Wasatch and is wanting to move to Skyline High, You will need to fill one out at Skyline. Tell your friends and family that the time has come! Please bring a copy of most recent grades, immunizations and birth certificate if coming into 6th grade. We would love to have you and your friends join our fabulous school. Here is the link to the open enrollment form on the District website: https://www.graniteschools.org/bulletin/early-open-enrollment-period-3/
