Dear Parents and Students:
DAY OF SERVICE:
On April 25, we will be on PM assembly schedule to facilitate a Day of Service at Wasatch sponsored by the PTSA. The school will be divided up into four groups and will rotate to complete different acts of service for each other, school, community and world. We are asking that students come dressed in slightly older clothes as they could get dirty filling sandbags for the city and residents of Millcreek, and one of the other rotations. We are excited for this opportunity and for all the good that will done that day.
7TH GRADE FIELD TRIP:
It’s here! The 7th Grade Field Trip to This is the Place Heritage Park is on Monday, April 24th. Thanks to all of our awesome volunteers who made this possible! A few things to know before we go:
Qualifying students will leave Wasatch Junior High at about 9:30 AM and head up to This is the Place Heritage Park, where they’ll tour with a teacher and parent volunteers, learning about Utah’s history as they go. We’ll return to Wasatch at 2:00 PM, so it’s a whole-day field trip! The weather looks to be low-to-high-50s, so students will want a jacket. There’s also a chance of rain, so come prepared!
Students cannot bring their backpacks to This is the Place Heritage Park – anything much bigger than a lunchbox will need to be left behind in a locker, a teacher’s room (if there’s a teacher willing), or left at home. Students can bring lunch boxes, handbags, and so on…if it could fit easily in a paper grocery bag without breaking it, you’re good to go! Students are allowed to bring their phones and we encourage them to take pictures while they celebrate an awesome 7th Grade Year with their friends.
SUPERINTENDANT TOWN HALL:
Tuesday, April 25 is the Skyline Network Superintendent Town Hall.
It begins at 6:30 pm and will be at Skyline High School in the auditorium.
SCHOOL COMMUNITY COUNCIL ELECTIONS:
Interested in helping Wasatch Junior High continue to excel in its academic excellence? Want to ensure that $100,000 of Land Trust money is allocated on important student needs? Do you have 1 hour a month you can give to achieve this? Then Community Council is where you need to be. There are 3 openings for next year. Come be part of the solution. Please see the attachment for the Candidacy Declaration form.
ART SHOW:

7:45 – 8:00 Filmmaker and People’s Choice awards given
YEARBOOKS:
Parents! School is almost over and many students haven’t purchased a yearbook! They are first come, first served and we’d hate to have your student miss out. If you haven’t purchased one or aren’t sure, please contact Charity Flanagan. Her direct line is 385-646-3701 or you can email caflanagan@graniteschools.org. Avoid the long lines on yearbook day! Buy a yearbook today!
LIBRARY:
All library books are due on May 5th. The librarians will be talking about fines and missing books with each student over the next couple of weeks so that everyone is ready for the end of the school year. All fines and missing materials must be paid or returned by the end of the year, especially for students who have ordered yearbooks. In order to make this easier for students, we will be giving each student a yellow fine check card, and we will be marking any library or school fees that are currently owed. For 8th graders, these fine check cards will be filled out and sent home on Thursday, April 28th during English classes. For 6th and 7th graders, the cards will be completed during English classes on Thursday, May 4th. Students who have all fines paid and materials (except Chromebooks) returned by May 5th will receive a prize from the media center!
Please note: Chromebooks, chargers and textbooks are not due until May 25th, so those are not included on the fine check cards. Students who do not return their charger on or before May 25th will be charged a $26 fine. Students who turn in a damaged device may be fined for those damages. Chromebook and charger fines must also be cleared prior to students receiving Yearbooks on May 30th. If you have questions or concerns about fines, please contact Charity Flanagan, caflanagan@graniteschools.org (385)646-3701. Thank you for helping us end the school year on a great note!”
