Team building, getting to know and showing appreciation for colleagues, sharing talents and interests, and learning some distance learning strategies, all necessary during these unusual times! What if they could all be encompassed in one activity? Well…for the teachers of YESS, sSTEP, and Gap they have been in a scavenger hunt!
A weeklong scavenger hunt began a few days ago using an app called GooseChase. Brenda, YESS Technology Specialist, has organized this activity addressing all of the components listed above with a fun twist. The teachers have been grouped into teams with “missions” to accomplish. Some examples are snapping a pic of someone wearing at least 3 different PPEs, sharing a pic of an online meeting, giving a colleague their favorite treat, finding a coin from the year Granite School District was established, or the oldest text book one could find, to name just a few. Teams earn points for each mission they complete.
The scavenger hunt will conclude with a presentation and an award to the team that accumulated the most points during the professional learning scheduled for the end of term.
The game is afoot!
