There was a presentation at AIM about emotional intelligence, in which we employed a facility dog. The students discussed how to help settle an anxious dog. One student suggested to read a story book to her. The class experimented for a couple of minutes, and as it turned out, reading to an anxious dog as a coping strategy worked! (At least in this case). Students reported feeling calmer too.
