Students were asked to make self portraits using the Jordan River and the Theme “We Are All Water”. Kathy (DSI/Gemstone Science teacher) and Cathleen (DSI/Gemstone Art teacher) in coordination with STEMCAP Community Alliance Program, worked together to help students to understand the importance of water to our environment and to us as part of the community. They created a tie dyed cloth they used to portray the Jordan River. They incorporated pieces of tie dyed cloth in their portraits to show that water plays a role in their lives. The portraits will be displayed at the Salt Lake City library system’s Day-Riverside Branch in Rose Park.
