We Welcome New Teachers!
Brittany comes to us from Kennedy Jr. High. She will be teaching Social Studies. She has taught in Granite for several years and has been involved in the several committees in the district over the years and we feel very lucky to have her join us at YESS.
Tucker taught at our Transition Classroom at Roosevelt last year where he worked well with the students. He is a Science teacher and is very athletic. He coaches soccer in his spare time. DSI/Gemstone will enjoy having Tucker as a teacher.
STEM CAP
We are lucky to have a partnership with the U of U through STEMCAP. This week, they brought in HawkWatch International, and our students got to learn all about raptor lifecycles, reproduction, adaptations, etc. We were so lucky to spend time with a full grown male great horned owl! We also were able to look at various things through the microscope.
First Lady Abby Cox Show Up For Teachers Initiative is focused on supporting Utah educators by making mental health and emotional well being a priority to enable teachers to better support the students they teach. Pamela, our English and Music teacher at DSI/Gemstone participated by having a booth about Origami in the classroom.
