Hello Bonneville Family,
As we move through the fall season, we are reminded how beautiful this time of year can be. Even though the cooler weather hasn’t fully arrived, it’s a perfect moment to slow down, enjoy the fresh air, and appreciate the small things—like “taking time to smell the roses.” I encourage everyone to take a break from the hustle of daily life to embrace these moments.
I am so proud of our Vikings for successfully completing the 1st Quarter! For our 6th graders, this has likely been an eye-opening experience as they adjust to the rhythm of having seven different classes each day. I hope that by now, the routine and the rigor of the workload are starting to feel more manageable and comfortable.
Lately, I’ve had the word “exhaustion” on my mind when it comes to junior high. After a full day at school, I feel it, and I can see it on the faces of our students and teachers as well. Exhaustion can mean many things—working hard, not getting enough sleep—but there’s also the exhaustion that comes from choices we make. Disruptions in class, for example, can create unnecessary work for fellow students and teachers, draining everyone’s energy. As we approach the next quarter, let’s remember that we each have the power to choose how we act every day. We can help manage our own exhaustion levels and support others by being respectful, focused, and kind.
Thank you all for your continued support and commitment to Bonneville Junior High. Let’s continue working together to ensure our students thrive as we move into the next quarter.
Important Updates:
- Personal Electronic Devices Policy
Starting Tuesday, October 15th, personal electronic devices will no longer be allowed during lunch periods. This aligns with the Granite School Board’s decision for all K-8 students, encouraging face-to-face social interaction (as referenced in The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt, Ch. 5).- Devices should be out of sight either in backpacks, lockers or left at home.
- If a device is seen or heard, it will be taken and held in the main office until the end of the day. Multiple violations will require a parent/guardian to pick up the device.
- Bonneville Junior High is not liable for lost or stolen personal devices.
- Halloween Costumes
For the first time in a while, students are allowed to wear appropriate and safe costumes to school on Thursday, October 31st. While costumes are optional, please follow these guidelines:- No masks, hoods, or face paint.
- Costumes must allow for easy mobility and classroom comfort.
- No weapons or look-alike weapons.
- Dress code must be followed, including full coverage of genitals, buttocks, and nipples with opaque materials. See-through or mesh garments must have appropriate coverage underneath.
- There will be no parade or costume contests.
Let’s show our maturity and creativity by keeping Halloween safe and fun!
