Hello Bonneville Family,
We are so proud of the outstanding efforts and accomplishments from our students as we wrap up the first quarter!
First, a big shout out to all our students for keeping their phones put away during lunchtime. Your ability to follow directions and demonstrate maturity is truly commendable, and it’s making a positive impact on our school environment!
We also want to congratulate the 228 students who had no tardies throughout Quarter 1! We celebrated this impressive achievement with a fun “No Tardy Party” on Thursday. Your dedication to being on time sets a great example for all. Keep it up!
Additionally, our Vikings have been putting in hard work, with 47% of our students earning a 3.0 or higher on their report cards this quarter! Way to go, Vikings! Your commitment to academic excellence is something to be celebrated.
Keep up the fantastic work, everyone—we’re excited for what’s to come in Quarter 2!
This week we are celebrating Utah College Awareness Week (UCAW) which is a month-long event celebrated in schools across Utah each October. Throughout the week, students will explore high school graduation requirements, learn about both in-state and out-of-state colleges, and discover the various types of college certificates and degrees available. We encourage everyone to join the fun by participating in spirit days and lunchtime activities as we gear up for an exciting future in higher education!
Monday- Cottonwood High School Day (Wear Cottonwood gear or black & gold)
Tuesday- Utah College Day (Wear college gear from a college in Utah or college colors…there may be a competition to see which color is represented the most)
Wednesday- Out-of-State College Day (Wear college gear from a college not in Utah OR dress up like a tourist)
Thursday- Military Day (Dress in camouflage)
Friday- Bright Future Day (Wear neon or bright clothing)
Important Updates:
- Personal Electronic Devices Policy
Starting Tuesday, October 15th, personal electronic devices will no longer be allowed during lunch periods. This aligns with the Granite School Board’s decision for all K-8 students, encouraging face-to-face social interaction (as referenced in The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt, Ch. 5).- Devices should be out of sight either in backpacks, lockers or left at home.
- If a device is seen or heard, it will be taken and held in the main office until the end of the day. Multiple violations will require a parent/guardian to pick up the device.
- Bonneville Junior High is not liable for lost or stolen personal devices.
- Halloween Costumes
For the first time in a while, students are allowed to wear appropriate and safe costumes to school on Thursday, October 31st. While costumes are optional, please follow these guidelines:- No masks, hoods, or face paint.
- Costumes must allow for easy mobility and classroom comfort.
- No weapons or look-alike weapons.
- Dress code must be followed, including full coverage of genitals, buttocks, and nipples with opaque materials. See-through or mesh garments must have appropriate coverage underneath.
- There will be no parade or costume contests.
Let’s show our maturity and creativity by keeping Halloween safe and fun!
Mr./Señor Bailey
