We have had a great first quarter of school. Academic achievement is up for the third straight year. Our girls’ soccer team went undefeated and won the district championship!!!!! We had an amazing choir concert in the beginning of October. Students involved in cross-country and boys’ soccer had a great time.
We are so thankful for all that your students do for the school. We would like to encourage you to check weekly with your student(s) and make sure that they are using Eagle Time fully. Students get a printout of their grades every Monday that they staple in their planner. Please review this with them every Monday night. Every Tuesday and Thursday students have a chance to go to a teacher and get help or clarify any question he/she has. Many teachers allow the students to redo assignments, quizzes, and tests. If your student ever says that he/she has no homework, say yes you do. Have them read for 20 minutes. It will pay off in a couple of years when he/she takes the ACT and starts to look at colleges.
Open Enrollment for students living outside of Evergreen boundaries begins December 1, 2017 and goes through February 20, 2018. All students who do not live inside of Evergreen boundaries will need to fill out an open enrollment application. These are available at the school. Last year we turned away a large number of people applying for open enrollment due to full programs. We will likely have a large number of requests again this year. We were the top performing junior high school in the district on the Federal School Accountability Report (School Grade Improvement). Applications will be available in the counseling center on December 1st.
We are so grateful for the opportunity to work with such a great community. If there is anything we can ever do for you, let us know.
