April Calendar, APRIL 2019 (300 KB, PDF)
Rise Testing
Rise testing will officially begin on April 1st and ends on May 15th. Students in third through sixth grades will take the Rise Test. Classes will have varying schedules for the dates they test. Please look for notes and/or check planners for the dates your child will be testing. Also, talk with your children about performing their personal best on these tests. Children need to get plenty of sleep nightly and eat breakfast during the testing period. A free breakfast at school will be offered to everyone from April 22-26. As you know, our scores are posted publically, and Fox Hills is always proud of our students and their performance.
RED KIOSK
Fox Hills has a new kiosk which is installed in the front office to check visitors and volunteers into the building. Please have your driver’s license available to insert into the kiosk. A quick background check will be done once your license is inserted. Once your license has cleared, a badge will be printed with your name and picture to wear while in the school. When you are ready to leave, please stop by the kiosk and check out. If for some reason your license does not clear the background check, you will be asked to meet with the principal to resolve the issue.
Student Safety
As a community there are major safety concerns on our minds for our children as we watch the news. We are excited to have more security measures installed at Fox Hills! As we plan and prepare for a variety of scenarios, I do not want to overlook the day to day routines of safety for our students. For example, the drop off/pick-up zone and parking lots are always an area of danger for students. Please be aware that double parking is a danger in the turn-around as well as not using designated crosswalks. Also, please park across the street, and not in the faculty parking lot, to pick up students. Students need to arrive for breakfast between 8:00-8:25. These small gestures will help keep all of our students safe!
End of Year
As we come to the last eight weeks of school, we want to keep our students focused and learning. As a staff we want to minimize behavior concerns and focus on enjoying the last weeks we get to spend together with each other and your children. The end of the year can be a challenging time, particularly for students. When the sun shines, students become more active and excited for summer. Please talk with your children about being strong finishers, focusing on school, and enjoying being with their peers and teachers. We are implementing a school wide incentive as well as grade level incentives to help encourage students to avoid white slips and office referrals. We have many fantastic students who do a wonderful job following our Fox Focus and always obey the rules.
Principal’s Notes
It is already April and the end of the school year is quickly approaching! I have had a fantastic year as principal at Fox Hills. Your children are amazing, and I love watching them smile, learn and grow. Thank you for your support and for helping make our school a wonderful place to learn. I have truly enjoyed the relationships I have developed with you and your children. I have had a fun time chatting with your children in the lunchroom and watching all the extra-curricular activities which Fox Hills offers. The teachers are incredible, and we are all lucky to be influenced by their dedication, commitment, and talents. Fox Hills is amazing and thank you to all who contribute to making it a wonderful school.
